Susie graduated with a distinction from City & Guilds of London Art School’s Art and Design Foundation following a career in education and international development.
Her work is heavily influenced by more than a decade living in Asia and Latin America: from landscapes and architecture to textiles and basketry. Her practice includes ceramics, sculpture and print and she uses a variety of materials including wood, clay, ink and natural dyes.
She works with a predominantly blue and white palette and her research is currently focused on indigo dyed textiles. The patterns and inky blues that she grew up with in Asia inform her ceramics and she has also designed a collection of indigo accessories. Susie has an interest in preserving traditional craft techniques and has put together a small collection of indigo dyed textiles from artisans around the world which are available in her shop.
Susie is an experienced workshop facilitator with a strong interest in public engagement and community arts. She is a member of The Kiln Rooms in London.
